Starting Your Own Garden is Super Grown Up Fun!
Try to prevent your seedlings from totally drying out. It is true that there are a lot of different types of plants that thrive in dry soil conditions but that doesn't mean that you can let them dry out completely. Every seedling needs to be watered. You don't have to let your seedlings sit in mud, obviously, but you need to give them at least a little bit of moisture if you want to keep them alive. How much water you provide to your plants is going to depend upon which types of plants you are trying to raise in your garden. Learn how often and how much to water your seedlings before you plant them. You don't want to let your plants dry out or drown. If you want your garden to be great you need to be patient. The fact is that you are going to have to wait a while before you start to see real blooms or shoots appear in your garden space. If you are desperate to skip the waiting period the only way to do so is to buy seeds that have already been sprouted at your local nursery or garden department. If you do not want to spend any money on "already grown" plants, get used to the idea of being patient and doing a lot of work while waiting to see the results of your labor. Do not freak out of it takes a few weeks or even a few months before you see any real activity on the topside of the soil.
Don't go too big too fast. You probably envision having an entire yard that is full of plants that are blooming. If you've never grown a garden before, it is a good idea to begin with just a few plants. When you do this you won't have to worry if you put a lot of work into something that ends up not interesting you. If you want to be a gardener you need to be prepared to make a commitment to your plants and you need to be patient. Doesn't marriage require a courtship period? If you've never grown a single bean before, why would you dedicate your entire yard to a vegetable garden?
Anybody can have a garden. If you want to have a good garden, you need to take a few steps to make sure that your approach to gardening is correct. Planning your garden in advance and learning how to care for your future plants is key if you want those plants to thrive. If you want to have more fun when you garden you need to learn everything you can about keeping your garden plot healthy and map out a regular care routine for your plants. You could even come to look forward to digging in your garden each day.
